No Longer Available!

The page you have landed on is an archived copy of my Craigslist posting from Thanksgiving 2008. I'm proud of the writeup and wanted to keep a copy of it for posterity, but this trumpet sold long ago and is no longer for sale.

I apologize for any confusion!

vintage King Tempo trumpet in good condition w/lots of extras - $250

Has your son been complaining about the beginner trumpet you've been renting him? Now that you know he's taking it seriously have you been wanting to get him a nicer horn of his own? Is a new professional horn still unfortunately out of your price range? Then you've landed on the right auction!

This is the King Tempo trumpet, first produced around 1977 as a high-level intermediate trumpet: a professional trumpet at a lower price point; I bought mine used in 1990. It is serial number 465621, which means it was manufactured in the late 1970s. It has a nickel finish with brass trimmings. It's not a bad-looking horn for its age, and there are no dents or deep scratches, but there are quite a few small scratches all over the finish. There are more specifics at the bottom of the listing.

I was quite the enthusiast when I was playing this horn regularly, so I bought a lot of extras for it, which are included. I have three trumpet mouthpieces, one mellophone mouthpiece for a mellow sound, and even two french horn mouthpieces with an adapter so you can use them in the trumpet. There's also a Harmon jazz mute (the "wah" mute you've heard on recordings), a straight mute for pure volume reduction, a detachable lyre, a leather handgrip to protect the valve casing from sweaty palms, and some valve oil. Not to mention the sturdy hard case that everything fits in! There are details on the mouthpieces at the bottom.

I very much enjoyed playing this horn for years, and I just have moved on to electric guitar and singing, and so it's been in the closet for a long time. It's easy to play and has a great sound, even all these years later. My trumpet chops aren't what they used to be, but the horn still sounds as good as it ever did.

Email or call Graham at XXX-XXXX. My wife and I are just kicking around at home for the holidays, and should be available pretty much anytime. If you're reading this listing, then it's still available; I'll remove the listing as soon as it sells. (The trumpet is long gone; see the note at the top of the page.)

Here you can see the engraving on the top of the bell, proving that this really is a classic Tempo trumpet and not just some random chrome-plated piece of junk.

Here you can see the serial number and some of the scratches on the finish.

The bell is still relatively scratch-free and in good shape.

The included mouthpieces are:

The trumpet itself weighs 2 lbs and 6 ounces, has a .458" bore, and bell diameter of 4-3/4". The valves work great, and it is easy-blowing with a rich, full sound.
